DESCRIPTION
This is a two-axle refrigerated freight car of which approximately 1,400 were manufactured, and the first year of production was 1963. Although it had no mechanical device for cooling and was refrigerated using ice or dry ice, it is a typical refrigerated two-axle freight car that has improved cold storage performance compared to previous refrigerated freight cars, making it possible to transport long distances. Depending on the period of operation, it was pulled by everything from steam locomotives to JNR standard electric locomotives. The format disappeared in 1987.
